The refractive treatment with lasik reduces or eliminates dependence on glasses or contacts. LASIK or LASER is approved by FDA for the treatment of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.
MYOPIA (nearsightedness or shortsightedness)
Individuals can see near objects clearly, but distant objects are blurry.
HYPEROPIA (farsightedness)
Individuals distant objects are blurred and near objects are even more blurred.
ASTIGMATISM
In this condition light is bent unequally, forming two focal points and preventing a clear image from forming on the retina. One may have astigmatism alone or in combination with myopia or hyperopia.
PRESBYOPIA
This condition is part of normal aging process that affects almost everyone over age 40. It results from a stiffening of the eye’s lens and weakening of the ciliary muscles which results in decreased focusing power.
